Totally Korean 2

Sunday 15th May, saw us take a small team to Leicester at the Totally Korean 2 competition. Our squad was small on the day but the results were huge. Kian, the newest member to the squad, made his debut on the circuit (excluding asbba held competitions) and had no-one to fight for his age group so he stepped up to take on the 7 year olds. Unfased to the situation he executed a perfect fight strategy to gain 1st place in his category. Next up saw Thomas taking up some 'leggy' fighters. Worked well under pressure, utilising the mat and countering all the kicks that were being thrown at him to win his section. Shane then got moved up a category as well as he was taller than the others in his age group. Fighting guys older than him, shane accepted the challenge and listened to instruction as well as reacting well to shots being called mid fight. A great improvement in attacking especially with that speedy back fist of his. That made 3 fights, 3 wins for team asbba. Final fight saw tina being persuaded at last minute to attend the comp. In a gutsy performance, tina came up short in the final to come 2nd. However lots of positives from her performance were taken and a great increase in her speed and confidence. A good competition with great performances by all. Well done team asbba.

Lordswood Open

Last weekend saw many students and clubs attending the Lordswood Open. The event was held at Lordswood Girls School and boasted 50 categories in points and light conitnuous sparring. We had around 10 clubs supporting the event creating some very good fights in both disciplines. It was a breath of fresh air watching the 4 to 6 year olds on the mats. That many turned up to compete and test their skills that we had to split the category to white belts and coloured belts. They were all fearless and extremely brave. All showed great attitude to the sport and with the conitnued support from coaches and parents, i am sure they will turn out to be tremendous Martial Artists. All the staff and coaches (from all clubs) believe that the smaller shows like ours are a great breeding ground for novice and intermediate fighters. We did have advanced fighters onshow as well so there are challenges for all. If your club would like to be involved with the next event then please keep September 18th free in your diarirs for another great show.
