Tina's Black Belt Grading

After a gruelling 6 hours examination, for those that were not on hand to witness the event, then you can now see some of the pictures in our gallery. As you can see the grit and determination on her face shows only the physical pain and determination. The mental side of any black belt grading could never be captured on camera as different people handle it in different ways. Either way, Tina's focus and discipline resulted in her achieving her black belt but paid the price physically by being out of action for a couple of weeks through injury.

In House Tournament

Another superb event where our guests and friends from the KSKA and DGF joined us in our bumper friendly competition. The initial platfrom to get vital competition experience for debutant and novice fighters.  With over 30 fighters and and 50 odd spectators, the hall was packed to the rafters to witness some cracking fights and close matches. It was an excellent opportunity for all clubs to see how the Karate Traditionalist Style adapted to competing with Freestylers and vice versa. Even  though rules varied slightly to what they were used to, they handled the situation extremely well. A big congratulations to all the competitors and whilst talking to everyone, there were some goals already set for the next in house. 'I can do better', 'I want to win', 'annoyed with my performance', words of true warriors who analyse their performances constructively so to come back stronger. Next In House tournament is on September 4th whilst our next open tournament is on September 18th.

Martial Arts Classes

We now have mma classes on Saturdays at 10am. The 1st class was a great success and you all have started to learn the aspect of ground figting. These classes will continue to be taught by Mick Broster, a highly respected grappling coach in the country. In these classes you shall be learning techniques that are demonstrated on shows such as the UFC, BAMMA and other larger shows that you may have seen on TV. There will be wrestling drills, striking, takedowns, throws and submissions. So come down, classes only cost £5 per session and for July only, they are totally free.
