WTKA Welsh Open
What a day the ASBBA/Black Belt Inc Squad had down in Cardiff. The day started of with high drama when the minibus's clutch decided to give up on us but when the replacement finally arrived we headed off to the Wester Leisure Centre. So much to add so I apologise if i miss anybody out. I must thank the parents who looked after our younger fighters whilst we were waiting for the 2nd minibus. In short, ASBBA came back with 4 WTKA Welsh Champions (Thomas Devenny, Will Devenny, Shane Elley and Aaron Murphy) and Black Belt Inc (Matt Smalling, Emily Shaw, Kiel Tidman and Lauren Lang, our association) came back with a total of 8 including the grand champion.
Not only did we come back with 4 golds but we got 3 silvers and 1 bronze as well.
Our success didn't just come in semi contact but we got good results in the light continuous sections as well.
Congratulations to all who competed on Sunday.

All the sparring that you are putting into sparring on Wednesday is paying off, congratulations.

WTKA Clash UK
What can I say but Team ASBBA are going from strength to
strength. On Sunday 28th March we took 7 members of our squad to the
WTKA Clash Tournament in Leicester. Magnificent set of results as each member
of the team came back with either a 1st or 2nd place
finish. Performance of the day has to go to Lewis who won his points category
and then followed that up with a 2nd place finish in his light
continuous. If that wasn’t enough, he then proceeded to move up a category in
the light continuous and blast his way through the opposition to another 1st
and for good measure, he then moved up another category and came 2nd
in that. Overall he alone came back with 4 awards and numerous fights under his
belts. Shardae had an impressive 2nd tournament with yet another 2nd
place finish; I think she now has the tournament bug as this was her 2nd
tournament in successive weekends. Raven came 1st on some tough
fights as did shane. Alistair came out with an impressive 2nd place
losing out in the final by one point. JD showed great movement, aggression and
is really upping her game considerably. All this was on route to a 1st
place finish. Tina blasted her way into the final where she was runner-up in a
tough fought battle.
