Josh's Birthday Party

Saturday 18th June saw Josh celebrate his 6th Birthday with an ASBBA Martial Arts Birthday Party. A 2 hour fun fest left all the party go-ers totally shattered. Many games were played throughout the period and everyone thouroughly enjoyed themselves. You can view pictures of Josh's Birthday Party in our gallery. You can book a Martial Arts Birthday Party by seeing or calling Anotnio. You don't need to be a member of the club to enjoy an ASBBA Martial Arts Birthday Party.

Black Belt Grading

Another gruelling Black belt Grading examination. on June 4th, Tina Gosai attempted her Black belt Grading. After years of training, the day of reckoning was upon her - A 6 hour test of mind, body and soul. Through dedication, Tina and her grading partner (Rie Woolaway) spent hours during and after class going through each belt making sure that each element was mastered and down to a fine art. The run up to her Black Belt Grading saw Tina take on extra fitness classes, private classes and even personal exercise/dietary program to make sure her body was ready. After having numurous operations to deal with compartment syndrom, Tina battled on and even during the examination, her calves tightened up drastically causing her anguish. She now bears the bruises on her calves to prove it along with a torn hamstring (that she did 2 weeks beforehand).

Totally Korean 2

Sunday 15th May, saw us take a small team to Leicester at the Totally Korean 2 competition. Our squad was small on the day but the results were huge. Kian, the newest member to the squad, made his debut on the circuit (excluding asbba held competitions) and had no-one to fight for his age group so he stepped up to take on the 7 year olds. Unfased to the situation he executed a perfect fight strategy to gain 1st place in his category. Next up saw Thomas taking up some 'leggy' fighters. Worked well under pressure, utilising the mat and countering all the kicks that were being thrown at him to win his section. Shane then got moved up a category as well as he was taller than the others in his age group. Fighting guys older than him, shane accepted the challenge and listened to instruction as well as reacting well to shots being called mid fight. A great improvement in attacking especially with that speedy back fist of his. That made 3 fights, 3 wins for team asbba. Final fight saw tina being persuaded at last minute to attend the comp. In a gutsy performance, tina came up short in the final to come 2nd. However lots of positives from her performance were taken and a great increase in her speed and confidence. A good competition with great performances by all. Well done team asbba.

Grading Workshops

The last grading was superb now its time to carry on the momentum to the next grading taking place on June 4th. We are holding more grading workshops to perfect those techniques for your next belt. These workshops count towards your attendances and will allow the instructors to evaluate the techniques that need improving.  This then gives us a month to polish your techniques so that it is to the same standard as your stronger techniques. We have split the workshops over 4 sessions so that we can focus on three belts at a time, giving you the best possible opportunities and attention. We are pre-booking now so that we can gage attendandees and have enough instructors to hand to help you all. Pre-booking your space is only £4 per student.

Easy Fundraising

A quick thank you to all the asbba members who have started using the easy fundraising website to help us raise funds for the club. We received a cheque for £20 today which will be put towards some equipment. It doesn't sound like much but so far we have 15 members signed up. If we all signed up to the cause then the funds would increase at a faster rate. The previous cheque was put towards the gladiator pugel sticks that we used in class a couple of months back. Don't forget that you can still help raise funds by using easy search. So even if you do not shop on line, you can do your part whilst using the internet.

New Website Launch

Finally after months of planning, ASBBA have a brand new website. Exciting plans ahead so please click back to this page to find out the latest news happening in and around ASBBA. Hear about the events as they happen in our events calendar as well as how you can help the club in raising vital funds for equipment by shopping on line or bringing in your empty ink cartridges to the club.
